This is a true native mint which grows in moist places, typically along pond margins and seeps. It is edible, and used for teas, candies, and methol production. In the garden, Field Mint attracts beneficial insects such as Syrphid flies, who protect other plants from aphids and other pests. It blooms in summer, and is an excellent pollinator plant. Field Mint spreads by underground rhizomes.
